We were so excited to receive the most adorable package in the mail today...baby chicks! This gets me so happy amid a lot of craziness going on in the world right now it really balances me when I get some time with my beautiful birds. Today was better though because finally we were able to get a breed of bird that we have been looking into for about five years now...BREESE!

Basket of Breese
Breese chickens are exceptional to say the least. Originating from France they have a massive set of standards to comply with to be considered Breese, number one is being raised in the Breese region of France, a 24 mile by 62 mile area in Eastern France, so just to be clear we have American Breese, because we don’t live in France and raise chickens...unfortunately.

Breese Chickens are considered the best taking chicken in the world but this has a great deal to do with how they are raised, involving a specific amount of pasture so they eat healthy insects, and later a limited amount of space where they can get fat living off of milk and corn (I’m being serious). After meeting various French demands the Breese will emerge being the “queen of chickens, and chicken of Kings” due to their incredibly delicious taste.

Unfortunately, we aren’t in France, so our Breese will have to grow into a Pacific Northwest Island stock, which might consist of sheep milk and blackberries, though probably somewhere further down the line when we have more sheep milk and blackberries. We’ll experiment later with the Northwest plants and see what really makes this bird meat exceptional. Until then, I’m just going to hold a chick or two...or twelve.
